Wrigley Salivary Research Award
Supported by a grant from Wrigley Oral Healthcare Programs
Deadline: January 19, 2016
Purpose:
To encourage excellence in salivary related research among dental scientists, dental students and non-dental students and allowing them to attend and participate in a major international dental research meeting, by assisting them financially.
Criteria:
- The program is targeted at dental and non-dental students (undergraduate and graduate), as well as dentists involved in research and other dental scientists.
- All applicants must be over 18 years of age and be a member of the IADR.
- Applicants do not have to be members of the IADR Salivary Research Group (SRG).
- Submitted abstracts must follow the IADR submission process for abstract submissions to the general session.
- The abstracts must be within the Salivary Research area of study.
- Submitted abstracts must be no more than 300 words total and contain content under the following headings: introduction, methods, results and conclusion.
- The SRG program chair will confirm that the elements noted above are all included.
- If any of the noted pieces are missing, the entry will be disqualified.
Timeline and How to Enter:
To apply, you must first submit an abstract to the IADR General Session & Exhibition through the IADR Website at www.iadr.org. Simultaneously select the Wrigley Salivary Research Award button.
The IADR deadline for all abstracts is January 19, 2016.
Submitted abstracts follow the same timetable as all other IADR submitted abstracts for the IADR General Session & Exhibition and deadlines are posted on the IADR Website. Winners will be selected among eligible applicants whose abstract has been accepted under the normal IADR scientific review.
Judging:
An awards committee consisting of the SRG president, immediate past president, president-elect, and group program chair will determine the awardees. Award winners will be notified via letter approximately one month after abstract submission.
Prizes/Awards:
Up to three awards will be given:
- Two Clinical Salivary Research Awards for dental scientists and students at $1,500 each,
- Basic Salivary Research Award ($2,000) for a dental or non-dental student.
- These awards are intended to recognize excellent research and to assist with travel costs to attend the IADR General Session & Exhibition.
If no suitable abstracts are received for any of these three awards, no award will be made. The awards are non-transferable.
Each awardee will present their scientific poster or give an oral presentation in a scheduled session (organized by the SRG program chair) at the IADR General Session & Exhibition.
The travel awards will be formally presented by the president of the SRG and a Wrigley Oral Healthcare representative at the SRG business meeting during the IADR General Session & Exhibition in 2016, unless other arrangements are made.
Awardees may be given an opportunity to participate in post promotion publicity, entirely at their discretion.

Wrigley Oral Healthcare Programs is providing a donation of $1,500 for each of two Clinical Salivary Research Awards and $2,000 for the Basic Salivary Research Award (up to three awards) to the SRG which is intended to supplement the costs of travel for the awardees they select. This award is administered by the Salivary Research Group within the IADR. The terms and conditions for the award are set and governed by the IADR SRG operating within the IADR structure. Employees of the IADR or Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company and its affiliates and subsidiaries, its agencies, their families, or anyone professionally associated with the research grant are not eligible to enter. Entries by agents or any party acting on behalf of the entrant will not be accepted.
